Message from Principal Crystal Ballard
I am thrilled to be granted the opportunity to join this esteemed community of scholars, parents, and caregivers and serve as principal of Hopkins High School. My interest in education stems from observing my brother’s adverse experience in schools. Although he and I attended the same schools and often shared the same teachers, we experienced different levels of success in school. My brother is more gifted than I; however, his brilliance was not cultivated in school. It is for this reason I am passionate about working hard to ensure every scholar has their needs met.
As I learn more about Hopkins High School, I am constantly reminded of how remarkable this place is. Ensuring scholars are successful at Hopkins and beyond requires strong relationships. I am committed to building trust while engaging in dialogue in efforts to collaboratively support the scholars of Hopkins High School.
Scholars:
Scholars, centering your voice and experience will be my first priority when making decisions. I look forward to serving alongside you to ensure you are prepared for life beyond Hopkins High School. I will affirm your brilliance, listen to your thoughts, and challenge you to be the best human you can be while cheering you on as you experience greatness. I have already had an opportunity to engage with some of you virtually. I have met animators, athletes, future professional wrestlers, and even a scholar who will likely represent Team USA during the olympics. Please join me on one of the weekly Google Meets. I look forward to meeting you both virtually and physically!
Parents and Caregivers:
Parents and caregivers, thank you for trusting us with your most prized possession. With this in mind, I want you to know that the best interest of your scholar will be at the forefront of our minds as we continue to create strong academic experiences for your scholar. While at Hopkins your scholar will have experiences that will encourage them to grow academically, emotionally, and socially. A strong relationship with you is paramount to seeing your scholar’s dreams manifest into reality. I invite you to partner with us as we work together — we will prepare your scholar to thrive beyond the walls of Hopkins High.
In Partnership,
Crystal D. Ballard
