Hopkins Royal Productions is well known for great productions and talent. Our audiences include not only families from all Hopkins schools, but also many theater-goers from the surrounding community who enjoy entertaining performances at Hopkins High School.

Our Program

In our program, we embrace the values of inclusivity, teamwork, and skill development. Our goal is to be recognized for our work on, back and off stage, excel in the area of performing arts, and foster group cohesion, all while encouraging individual growth. Students leaving our high school theatre program will be prepared for any further collegiate and professional training. We strive to have a theatre program that challenges and excites while guiding students to a new level of excellence, and be passionate about those challenges.

Royal Productions

Welcome to Hopkins Royal Productions - the award-winning theater program at Hopkins High School. Known throughout the community for our high-quality productions and outstanding student talent, Royal Productions bring together students, families, and theater-goers from across Hopkins and the surrounding area.

Whether you're discovering us for the first time or returning for another season, you'll find performances that are as memorable as they are inspiring. Our program challenges and excited students, guiding them to grow as artists and as individuals. In a welcoming diverse atmosphere, students are encouraged to take risks, develop their craft, and share their creativity with the community.

Each year, Royal Productions presents a full season of captivating performances - plays, musicals, one-acts and more. Audiences can expect high quality productions filled with talent, energy and craftsmanship, on and back stage.

We are proud members of Hennepin Arts Spotlight Education Program and also honored to compete in the Minnesota State High School League One-Act Play Festival in section 6AA, one of the state's most competitive divisions - a testament to our students' talent and dedication.

Auditions are held before each production, several times a year. Information is posted about 2 weeks prior to audition dates. Auditions may consist of a song (your choice, from show or both (musical only), a dance audition (musical only), a monologue (actor's choice or director provides) and/or a cold reading.

Register with Hopkins High School Activities Office.
Activity fee: $75 Actors, $50 Technicians
Booster fee of $50 for this show. Check made out to Royal Productions Booster or cast. These funds provide food during tech week, show T-shirt, and family 'shout out' in print program.

Parents and Volunteers

How can I volunteer?

If you are an alumnus, a former theatre parent, or a community member who wants to volunteer, please reach out to the theatre program director.

There are several opportunities for parents to get involved. Here are a few examples:

Publicity: Help get information to the school, school district, and media. We have one parent who has agreed to lead, but need additional people to help carry out the activities.

Selling Advertisements: Ads are sold for the playbill. This job involves contacting businesses and collecting the ads. We have a parent who has agreed to work on this, but need a more people.

Concessions: Organize concessions for each of the shows. Involves working with Cold Stone Creamery. Many parents sign up to donate cookies and/or water for the concession stand.

What is the booster fee?

This $100 fee covers show, program notice, tech week food, and director bouquets. Scholarships are available. Please give the director the payment.

A student activity fee is also required. This fee, along with registering with the Activities Office (just like a sport or other club), is required by the school. Go to Athletic & Activity Registration to pay this fee online.
