Start/End Times

 

Hopkins High School will start at 8:40 a.m. and end at 3:25 p.m.

Students may enter the building starting at 7:45 a.m. Students who drive should park in the parking lot directly in front of HHS and enter through the main entrance. Students who are dropped off and picked up should use the Royals Athletic Center (RAC) entrance to avoid blocking the fire lanes in front of the school and to allow students who drive to enter the parking lot with ease. Students who ride school buses are picked up and dropped off at the bus loop (door S). Students who use specialized transportation including cabs, and vans use door F near the loading dock on Royals Dr. The building will close to students who are not meeting with teachers, or participating in afterschool activities or athletics at 4:00 p.m. 

 Schedules & Supply Lists

 

Schedules

We’re in the final stages of preparing the school’s master schedule. Schedules will only be changed for incorrect placement, rigor/level adjustment, or PSEO requirements.

Schedule changes will only be allowed for the following circumstances and must be made in the first week of the Term or grading period. Please see reasons below for schedule changes.

1. Incorrect level placement (e.g. placed in geometry instead of algebra 2)
2. Same subject but different level (i.e. move from AP to regular level change)
3. Parents and school counselors approve a study hall, teacher’s assistantship or a senior release (12th graders only block 1 or 4 only).
4. PSEO scholar with a schedule that requires adjustment.

Reminders:

• Counselors will only respond to requests that meet the criteria for a schedule change.
• Schedules will not be changed for elective courses or for the same class but a different block.
• Scholars with an IEP or ELL class have schedules still being worked on.

Counselor assignments are split alphabetically by last name.

ResourceWest provides school supplies to help students start the school year strong. Their Back-to-School program offers a new backpack filled with basic, grade-specific school supplies to registered K-12 students.

Important Calendar Dates and Information: 

Open House
Date: Thursday, August 27, 2026
Time: 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Attendees can expect to meet teachers, engage with our community partners, and tour Hopkins High School. This is an opportunity for students and their families and/or caregivers to visit our school together and become familiar with the school before the year begins.

First Days of School

Upcoming Events:

9th Grade Orientation

All ninth grade students will participate in orientation on the first day of school, Monday, August 31, 2026. This is a student-focused experience designed to help students build connections, navigate the school, and feel prepared to start the year.

Buses will pick up students according to their regular transportation schedule. Breakfast and lunch will be provided.

Infinite Campus Parent Portal
Parents and guardians can access attendance, schedule, fees, and final grade reports in their Infinite Campus Parent Portal. If you have not logged in for a while, this is a great time to check your contact information and to verify that your census and ethnicity information is up to date. If you do not have an account, you can request an account on our website.

Hopkins Technology, Media, and Information Services
Hopkins Technology Service Desk:  952-988-4111. Calls are answered every school day from 7 a.m.- 4 p.m. 
Hopkins scholars interact with digital tools daily as a part of their academic experience. At Hopkins, technology is used collaboratively in an engaging way that brings ideas, perspectives, and new learning to every learner.  Nutrition

 

The Free School Meals Program was signed into law in the spring of 2023. This state-funded program allows us to provide meals at no cost to all students. The Free School Meals Program offers one free breakfast and one free lunch to each student every school day. Additional food items will require payment. Rates are below. 

Second Student Meal: $5.30
Extra Milk: $0.60 
Extra Student Entree: $3.30
Extra Fruit or Vegetables: $0.75 

Students must have money in their accounts to purchase any additional items.

It is very important that all families continue to fill out their applications for educational benefits. School funding is impacted by our free and reduced price eligibility, so it’s important this number is as accurate as possible. In addition, students and families may qualify for other program fee reductions based on their eligibility for free or reduced-price meals.  Transportation

 

Route details, including stop locations and pickup times, will be provided to families no later than Monday, Aug. 17, 2026. If you have questions, please email schoolbus@hopkinsschools.org. We will get back to you as quickly as possible, but due to back-to-school routing our response may be delayed. Visit the transportation webpage for more information.

Parking Pass

Details about parking passes can be found here. Parking passes are $160 per year and $80 for students who are eligible for educational benefits.

To receive a parking permit, scholars must meet the following requirements:

• Possess a valid driver's license
• Completed 2025-26 Parking Application Form

Parking permits can be picked up in the main office.

 Attendance

 

Attendance Procedures: A parent/guardian/caregiver must report all absences and attendance information to the attendance office at 952-988-4530 or submit using your Infinite Campus Parent Portal before 10:00 a.m. Be sure to include your student’s name, grade, and the reason for absence. Failure to report absences may require the parent/guardian/caregiver to call or provide documentation for the reason for the absence within 48 hours. 

Students Leaving School During The School Day:

Please make every effort to schedule appointments outside of the school day. If your student needs to leave for a planned appointment as allowed by law (see below) during the school day, please call the attendance office at 952-988-4530 or submit an absence report using your Infinite Campus Parent Portal at least two hours in advance or by 10:00 a.m., whichever is earliest. Students will not be allowed to leave the school without prior notification.

Students that leave school without prior notification will not be allowed to return into the school and their absence will be marked unexcused. An intervention may also be assigned. 

If your student is not feeling well during the school day, they must check out through the Health Office. The Health Office will contact you for permission if your student needs to leave school due to health reasons.

Communication Systems

 

Canvas Learning Management System
Canvas is our District-wide learning management system. Using Canvas, teachers can collaborate to build world-class, student-centered experiences delivered in person, distance, or hybrid. Canvas allows each student’s learning to be in one central place. In addition, parents are able to observe and access their child’s classroom experience.

All parents and caregivers should create a Canvas Observer Account (parent account). 

School Closings, Emergencies, and eLearning Days
Our email notification system will be used to inform you about unexpected delays or school closings. We will also post this information on our website, social media, and television stations such as WCCO TV (Channel 4), KSTP TV (Channel 5), KMSP TV (Channel 9), and KARE (Channel 11). An announcement will be sent as early as 5:30 a.m. when school needs to close or start late. Early dismissal from school in session will be announced approximately one hour before dismissal.

Translations/Interpreters
Hopkins offers translation and interpreter services for families whose primary language is not English. Please contact your school if you need support.
